1st Baseball practice

Anthony on his way to his 1st practice

Katrina watches as Anthony catches the grounder

Anthony waits for the ball and he waits and he waits.........

Mom, I am done, tired and my tummy is hungry!

The 1st day of Baseball practice was awesome! Anthony was totally into it and had a great time at practice while getting to know his new friends and coaches. I was very proud to see Anthony was trying very hard to play ball, I really liked how he would use his whole body to throw some pretty far balls. Anthony did really well following his coaches directions (wish I could get that) and enjoyed trying new skills.

Enjoy the pictures and once the games start I will make sure to post some pictures of Anthony in his St. Louis Cardinals uniform.

What I saw was very impressive! Adults coming together with one goal in mind; to offer some normalcy for children who do not live such normal lives based on what society considers to be normal. To see my little friend Zach who I have known for 3 years, who is completely confined to a wheelchair bat a ball with the help of an adult was pretty awesome, to see the smile on his face was all that was needed to say "I am proud of me!" To see other child who can't talk, throw a ball or bat just like their peers, beam with pride at their accomplishments is more then heart touching. What I witnessed at baseball practice was life changing for me and every other person there. I still tear up with joy and pride for my friends who have taught me and will continue to teach me that the simplest joys in life are gifts that too many of us take for granted, thanks to my son and my little friends I have learned, have been reminded that each second in life is a gift that should be celebrated and every accomplishment no matter how little it may seem really isn't so small. As a mom of a child with disabilities I have learned that I don't feel sorry for people with disabilities, but celebrate their accomplishments, share in their joy and lend support when they ask for it. I have learned over the years what: "We are all differently abled" really means.
